01 Your Digital Marketing Toolkit

Why do I need to know all of this?

You might ask, but Michelle, why do I need to know all of this? Can’t I just do some social posts and call it a day?

Here’s an example of why we take a holistic approach to digital marketing and why each channel, or digital tool, is important to everything we do.

Let’s say you’re writing a blog post.

That’s a piece of content so it falls under Content Marketing.

Content Marketing is all about making sure you’re developing content that attracts and nurtures your ideal client.

In order to write the blog in a way that people will quickly understand and be able to find it in a search, you’ll incorporate Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices. What good is a blog post if no one can find it on Google?

And of course that blog post has to live somewhere – like on your website where it’s coded to perfection!

And now you need to share your beautiful blog post with the world starting with your most engaged audiences via email marketing.

Maybe you have blog subscribers, or want to include your new blog post in your monthly newsletter, or even include it as part of a nurture sequence to engage with your audience more deeply.

You will likely also slice and dice your blog post into a series of social posts to reach an even broader audience. Which means you might even want to boost the most engaging posts using paid ads.

And because your content is so good, you pitch it to influencers and thought leaders in your industry through digital PR techniques.

And finally, you look at your analytics and tracking to figure out what messages resonated the best. What topics would you create more content around? What completed flopped? What did NOT resonate with your audience that you can scratch off your list?

From this example you can see that we touched an ALL 8 digital marketing tools.

If you ONLY used one or two your blog post just wouldn’t have gotten very far. But by using all of them, you just amplified the crap out of your unique brilliance. It really does take all of these tools working together to make the most of your digital marketing efforts.

It might sound intimidating, but over the course of this program you’ll get introduced to these concepts and it will feel like second nature.

If you’re up for some homework…spend a few minutes and jot down what you did with your last blog post you published. Did you leverage all of the above tools? Where were the gaps?
If you haven’t published a post before, think about what surprised you from the process I just talked about.

This might seem like a simple concept, but it’s a really important one to start thinking about how you can use these tools for everything you do.
